Fraxel® Alternatives in Newton, MA-old
Fraxel
What Are HALO® and CoolPeel®?
Fraxel® has long been considered a reliable option for resurfacing the skin, but it is not the only path to clearer, smoother, more even-toned skin. At Longevity Lab & Aesthetics, we offer two alternatives that deliver comparable results with greater flexibility and a more comfortable experience: HALO® and CoolPeel®.
Both are laser treatments that work by creating controlled renewal in the skin, prompting it to clear away damaged cells and build fresh collagen in their place. What makes them a natural fit for our wellness-first approach is that neither is about removing or dramatically altering the skin. They are about giving the skin the conditions it needs to improve itself.

HALO®
CoolPeel®
Treatment Areas
HALO® and CoolPeel® can address a range of concerns across several areas of the face and body.
Face
Neck
Skin on the neck often shows signs of aging and sun damage earlier than expected. Both devices can improve tone and texture in this area alongside facial treatment.
Chest and Décolletage
Hands
Sunspots and skin texture on the backs of the hands respond well to CoolPeel® in particular, making it a practical option for people who want to address this area with minimal downtime.
Benefits of HALO® and CoolPeel®
Because both treatments prompt the skin to renew itself rather than simply removing its surface, the results feel natural and continue to improve over the weeks following treatment.
Fades discoloration.
Softens fine lines.
Smooths the appearance of wrinkles without changing your natural expressions.
Improves texture.
Gently resurfaces rough patches and reduces the look of acne scars and enlarged pores.
Supports collagen production.
Encourages the skin’s own repair process for firmer, healthier skin over time.
Flexible options.
HALO® offers deeper results for more significant concerns. CoolPeel® is lighter and ideal for maintenance or first-time patients.
Minimal downtime.
CoolPeel® allows most people to return to normal activity the same day or the next. HALO® typically requires a few days of social downtime.
Is This Right for You?
You may be a good fit for HALO® or CoolPeel® if:
You have uneven skin tone, sunspots, or melasma that you would like to address
You want to improve fine lines and skin texture without injectables or surgery
You prefer natural-looking results with a recovery period that fits your life
You are in good general health and committed to daily sun protection
You want a treatment that supports your skin's long-term health, not just its appearance today
What To Expect
Your appointment begins with a consultation to determine whether HALO®, CoolPeel®, or a combination makes the most sense for your skin and your goals. Your skin will be gently cleaned, and numbing cream will be applied to improve comfort before treatment begins.
During the session, the laser device is moved over the treatment area. You may feel warmth or a mild tingling sensation, which is normal. The length of the session depends on the area being treated and which device is used.
With CoolPeel®, most people notice brighter skin and improved texture within a few days. HALO® produces more significant results that develop over one to two weeks as the skin finishes its renewal process. Both continue to improve over the following weeks as new collagen builds.
Before Your Appointment
Stay out of the sun for at least one week beforehand. Pause retinol, exfoliants, and active ingredients three to five days before treatment. Come with clean skin and no makeup.
After Your Appointment
Use only gentle, provider-recommended skincare products. Avoid direct sun, heat, and sweating for the first few days. Do not pick or peel the skin as it heals. Wear SPF daily and avoid makeup until your provider clears you to resume it.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between HALO® and CoolPeel®?
HALO® reaches both the surface and deeper layers of the skin, making it more effective for significant sun damage, acne scarring, and deeper lines. CoolPeel® works on the outer layer only and is gentler, with less recovery time. It is well-suited for maintenance or for people new to laser treatments.
When will I see results?
With CoolPeel®, brighter skin and improved texture are often noticeable within a few days. HALO® results develop over one to two weeks and continue to improve for several weeks afterward as collagen builds.
How many sessions will I need?
Some people are satisfied with a single session, particularly with HALO®. Others benefit from a series of more complex concerns. CoolPeel® is often done as part of a regular maintenance plan. Your provider will recommend what makes sense for your skin.
Can I go back to work the next day?
With CoolPeel®, most people return to normal activities the same day or the next. HALO® may require a few days of social downtime depending on your skin’s response and how deeply the treatment was set.
Can these be combined with other treatments?
Yes. Both devices pair well with other skin health treatments we offer. Your provider will help you build a plan that addresses your concerns in a logical, layered way.
Are these treatments safe for all skin tones?
HALO® and CoolPeel® work best on lighter to medium skin tones. We will assess your skin during your consultation and discuss whether either device is appropriate for your specific tone and concerns.
